Maintaining a healthy smile throughout your life requires different approaches at different stages. Here are 5 key areas for optimal dental care across all ages: 1. The First Teeth (Ages 0-3) Eruption The first tooth usually erupts around 6 months, with all 20 baby teeth arriving by age 3. Teething discomfort can be eased with cool teething rings and gentle gum massage. Brushing  Start with a finger brush and water, then graduate to a soft-bristled brush with fluoride toothpaste (pea-sized amount) as teeth erupt. Diet Limit sugary foods and drinks to avoid cavities. Breastfeeding or using fluoride-supplemented formula is recommended. 2. Healthy Habits (All Ages) Brushing Brush twice daily for 2 minutes, using a soft-bristled brush and fluoride toothpaste.
